How did you come to work for North?

J

I started with North back in 2012 when I got my first job out of uni at the Cross Keys Leeds! It opened my eyes to craft beer and I’ve never looked back. After a brief period working abroad and at a some other bars in Leeds I had the opportunity to rejoin North and the Cross Keys and I jumped at it

What was your fist memorable beer expierience?

J

I have very fond memories of my first (legal) pint in my local back home with my Dad. It was a pint of Kronenbourg in the Craven Arms Giggleswick, I remember it like it was yesterday. I’m still partial to a Kroney every now and then when I’m a bit hopped out. Other than that I’ll never forget the first time I tried Duchesse de Bourgogne, it blew my mind! Balsamic cherries in a beer?! It’s madness and will always be a fave!

What have you been listening to at work?

J

If it’s loud, got heavy guitars and got bearded men shouting down a microphone, I’m listening to it! Whenever I’m stuck and need something to get me pumped my go to is Mastodon or Clutch. I’ve been listening to a lot of High On Fire the last few weeks and been really enjoying the new Lamb of God record too!

Where is your favourite spot for a drink?

J

Drinking at the Brasserie Cantillon in Brussels was ace! I’d go back an do that again at the drop of a hat. There’s a bar in Edinburgh that I went to last year called Hoot The Redeemer which is top, absolutely bonkers place, I could happily spend hours in there. A bit closer to home I love heading to my mates place Eat Your Greens grabbing a pew at the bar and making my way through some great beer on tap and then switching to the amazing wine selection. The food is top notch too!
