How did you come to work for North?
I went to Leeds International Beer Festival in 2014 and found myself in the cells at Atomium, drinking Belgian beer. I got chatting to the guy behind the bar and it turned out to be the ops manager Matt Gorecki, he gave me a business card, I applied for a job a few week later. 6 years on I’m still here.
What was your first memorable beer experience?
I went through a phase of drinking Blue Moon Brewing Company with a slice of Orange. I’m pretty sure it’s the first non lager beer I’d had. Made me feel proper fancy! Been a few from North Bar, I remember my first pint of Magic Rock Brewing Cannonball very well. It’s remembering the second and third pint that always proves difficult.
What have you been listening to lately?
Listening to ARCHITECTS new album and the new Wolf Alice track on repeat. I recently became a dad for the first time and Off Menu podcast and Desert Island Discs have been soothing me through the night feeds.
Where is your favourite spot for a drink?
Local: The Cardigan Arms, second room on the right. First table on the left. Pint and a bag of dry roasted nuts.
Elsewhere: Bow Bar in Edinburgh or the beer on holiday you have just before you go out for dinner while everyone is getting ready. After sun soaking in. Maybe you’re on a balcony. Maybe by the pool. There’s a small bowl of paprika lays close by. That’s a high ranking pint.
