After a short (ish) break during lockdown, of introducing you to our team, we’re back! – and we have a few new additions for you to say hello to! Everyone, this is Beth! In her normal life Beth is part of our management team at the original North Bar. In more recent times Beth has been here at the brewery since lockdown began making sure all your online orders are fulfilled, packaged safely and getting out the shutter doors at lightning speed!

– How did you come to work for North?

I always wanted to work for North, Cal, the manager at North Bar had been trying to convince me for years. Eventually it finally felt like the right time to leave the place I was working at the time, so the stars aligned and now here I am! I was working at North Bar but obviously the bar is closed for now, so I decided to see if I could chip in at the brewery, now running packaging for the brewery’s webshop!

-What is your favourite North beer?

I really really liked the porcini + cacao stout brewed with Broaden & Build when it was pouring from a Theakstons old peculiar oak cask at Dark & Wild City 2019 last year, that was real special!

– What was your first memorable beer experience?

It would of been when in Chester a few years ago, I was working in a pretty straight forward bar, the head of beer purchasing for Living Ventures took the staff to a bar that had loads of beer I’d never tried before, I tried Duchesse De Bourgogne and Schlenkerla Marzen and those both literally changed my life, I had no idea beer could taste like that.

-What’s your favourite song/album to work to?

Definitely Machine Head, ‘Locusts’! That one always gets me pumped when we know we’ve got a new beer dropping and it’s going to get very busy packing the orders!

-Where’s your favourite place to drink?
I would say my local in Cambridge City Centre, it’s the called ‘The King Street Run’. It does everything, they have a jukebox that plays old school eighties metal, they play sports, the upstairs has pool tables, everything upstairs is covered in old comic covers, half the furniture is hanging from the ceiling and all the toilet doors open backwards, it all gets very wonky after a few drinks there…
