We’re coming to the end of Movember, so far we’ve raised £1125! We want to get up to £1500, help us get that final push to raise money for a great cause!

Throughout the month some of our staff have trimmed their facial hair into som beautiful mo’s and have been sharing why they’ve gotten involved, their self-care activities and why its important to them. Today we’re talking to Jamie.

Why have you jumped into Movember this year?

Everyone was getting on board with it at the brewery and it’s a cause I care about, I’d also not seen my chin for 5 years so I was in!
What’s your self-care activity of choice?
I love going to the pub for a few pints and pool, that’s where I’m most relaxed. I spend a lot of time looking at artists work whether they be painters, photographers, tattoo artists, etc. The creativeness of others is grand to see, and I’ve recently just taken up drawing again myself and it’s bliss.

Why is mental health important to you?

Mental health is important to me because it’s something that I’ve struggled with. I’d like to think I’m upbeat and always smiling and making a joke. I’m the prime example of a person who doesn’t look like they are struggling but they are. I’ve battled with my mental health, grief and addiction for a long time and truly believed at one point I hit rock bottom. I’ve got a lot better since, I have a job I love, I’m comfortable with where I am in life and most of all I’m happy. If anyone ever feels like all is lost, I’m here to tell you that things can only get better. I was too stubborn to believe this for a long time but it’s true!

Do you have any books, films, websites or resources that you’d like to shout out?

The best resource for me was seeing friends, talking and getting it all out. My door is always open also for anyone who feels like a chat!

A final word from Jamie:

I’ve had a blast growing this moustache this month and I’m chuffed we’ve raised as much money as we have! Take it easy and don’t be too hard on yourselves! Give us a wave if you see me in the North Van
Thank you for reading & take care.
