Since opening the brewery in 2015 we have been driven by an unwavering commitment to brewing big, bold beers. We love seeing our beers in the hands of people who’ve never drunk a hoppy IPA before, and watching lifelong industrial lager drinkers trying their first Volta!

As the modern beer scene thrives, retailers are starting to catch on. This has meant that we’re being approached with more and more exciting opportunities to explore different avenues to give as many people as possible the chance to try our beer.

Supermarkets can be a bit of a sore subject when it comes to craft beer but in the last two years alone we’re seeing more beer from great UK breweries hit supermarket shelves. There are still loads of places in the UK where people struggle to get their hands on our beers – and working with a larger retailer helps us to tackle this.

In late 2017 we were invited to visit Booths, a retailer which we’ve been keen to work with as they share many of our values. Like us they pride themselves on an uncompromising approach to quality, in which they prioritise flavour,  provenance, and individuality.

They also know their stuff! Whilst chatting it became clear that they have a real commitment to craft beer, demonstrated by their stock of over 200 exciting beers in their stores, many of which are from fantastic UK breweries who we respect and admire.

Our core beers: Sputnik, Transmission, Herzog and Piñata, will be on the shelves of nineteen of their stores in the upcoming weeks.

Stepping into supermarkets can automatically trigger alarm bells but this isn’t a decision that we’ve rushed into. We have doubled our production capacity meaning that we’ll be able to produce plenty of fresh beer for Booths, our existing customers, and new ones too.

This also means that we have more tank space available for collabs and specials which will be sold in independent bottle shops. A passion for experimenting with beers and working with other breweries were fundamental reasons behind opening the brewery. The collab brewdays also lead to some pretty epic nights out around the bars of Leeds once the brewing is done!

2018 is set to be our biggest year yet. We launched our DIPA brewed with Track Brewing and Wylam Brewery at some of our favourite independents: Little Leeds Beerhouse, Port Street Beer House and Block & Bottle. The DIPA is being taken on tour to Copenhagen, Malmö and London with pop up events in each city.

Next week we will be launching our Imperial Stout brewed with our friends at Basqueland Brewing Project for a #craftbeerhour launch party on twitter.

We’ll also be popping up at a whole host of tap takeovers and beer festivals with events in Sheffield, Liverpool, Brighton, Hull, Barcelona, China, Berlin, Edinburgh, London, and Aberdeen already in the diary.
