The North Mental Health board was founded in early 2020 to provide support and a space for open conversation for all members of the North Brewing Co / North Bar family.
The Mental Health board work across our bars and head office and brewery sites, meeting regularly to arrange coffee mornings, discuss internal support, curate books for the North mental health library and set up a running club.
Since Covid 19 has meant that we cannot be together physically, they have been sending fortnightly emails to all members of staff with links to exercise classes, podcast recommendations, easy store-cupboard recipes, template letters for contacting your landlord about rent worries and advice on budgeting. These newsletters also celebrate the creativity of the North team who are currently furloughed – from setting up online portrait businesses, to sharing creative writing, to cross stitch!
NB Running Club
Many of us drink beer at North(!) however we are all about balance! We set up a weekly running club to provide a little structure and exercise to support our staff’s wellbeing.
The North Running Club has gone virtual during the pandemic – we’re logging our runs, cycles and walks every Tuesday to keep connected when we can’t run together. Come and find us on Strava!
North X In Good Company X Morag Myserscough
We’ve teamed up with In Good Company, a Leeds based art project, to say thank you to our essential workers.
In Good Company launched their #postersforthepeople project as a reaction to CV19 – they wanted to spread a little joy and a little colour in such an anxious time.
We collaborated with In Good Company and Morag Mysercough on the label design and decided that 50% of the profits from every beer sold will be split between Mind and The Blurt Foundation. The pandemic is changing the way we live our lives and causing our mental health to be tested in unprecedented ways. We think it’s more important than ever before to raise awareness of Mental Health and support these two charities.
