After celebrating women of the world on Sunday for International Woman’s Day we thought we would introduce you to Bryony!
Bryony has been with us for just about one year now; bossing the packaging and cellaring and is now learning to make beer on our kit! She travelled from Manchester to work for us after getting into beer at BrewDog Manchester and cutting her teeth in the brewery at Beatnikz Republic Brewing Co. & Chorlton Brewing Co.
HOW DID YOU COME TO WORK FOR NORTH?
I was working in Manchester in brewing and bar work on and off and a job came up at North. I’d enjoyed a lot of North’s beers in the past and Manchester was starting to feel a bit stale so it felt like a good opportunity to get back into brewing with a company I was excited about.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE NORTH BREWING CO BEER?
I’m drifting away from haze recently so I got really excited when we did a new lager last year, Glass Museum. West Coast IPAs are also a favourite. Come in Number 51 was a great after work beer.
WHAT IS YOUR FIRST MEMORABLE BEER EXPERIENCE?
I remember working in a bar in Lancaster that sold The Brooklyn Brewery Lager. It came to around £2 after staff discount so I drank a lot of it and that got me into trying the American OG craft beers. It wasn’t until a few years later when I was working in a bar in Manchester that I started drinking UK craft. It was really useful to have access to great styles on a rotational basis so I feel like I learned pretty quickly what I liked.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SONG/ALBUM TO WORK TO?
If I’m not listening to audiobooks I generally have two moods. One is for metal and one is for musicals. Both at full volume.
AND LASTLY, WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE TO DRINK?
I’m a big fan of traditional style pubs so Whitelocks is a local favourite but Manchester is still my favourite place for beers. I usually hit up Port Street Beer House , Smithfield Market Tavern, The Marble Arch… the usuals.
Bryony everyone! Hi Bryony!!!
