Hellooo there! How are you? Having a nice weekend we hope! We’ve had a well busy week with the TIPA launch and getting some new recipes in tank as well as the return of a couple of faves from last year. This weekend is well deserved!

This Sunday we’re meeting Kate! Kate is our marketing assistant who works along side Sarah and Alex spreading the good word of North online and at events! Since ‘you know what’ happened, Kate has continued her marketing duties as well as spending time assisting in the web shop and hitting the roads of Leeds getting our locals their orders! She’s a star baker and, if you catch her singing, has a voice of an angel (seriously!)

How did you come to work for North?

I moved to Leeds 5 years ago and got a job working for Kirkstall Brewery – starting at Kirkstall Bridge and then joining the office team at the brewery. Over a year ago a role in marketing and events came up with North and I jumped at the chance to apply. I’ve had the chance to attend beer festivals in the UK and overseas (I miss them so much!) and have loved getting to know the lovely people, not just at North, but throughout the industry.

What was your first memorable beer expeirience?

First memorable beer experience is drinking stubbies in a caravan in France with my dad. The first beer that I tried that really changed my perception on what beer could be was Kirkstall Brewery Framboise. Opening my eyes to the world of fruit beer and introducing me to the world of gose and sours – TFG is most definitely my favourite beer we produce.

What have you been listening to at work?

In the webshop we listen to LOADS of different genres, but you can’t beat a cheesy tune to keep you going! Turns out I still know the dance to ‘Stop Right Now’ by Spice Girls ! For my sins 🤦🏻‍♀️

Where is your favourite spot for a drink?

When I first moved up to Leeds I found North Bar – the staff were so welcoming and the beer selection was great! My local is Kirkstall Bridge – perfect pint after walking the dog. But I love drinking wine at The Turk’s Head Leeds and have enjoyed drinking cocktails in Poison Cocktail Lounge (one place that will be sorely missed!)
