Job Description

North was founded by John Gyngell and Christian Townsley, the brains behind legendary Leeds beer venue North Bar, which opened in 1997; known as “the first craft beer bar in Britain”. North Bar influenced a new wave of modern beer bars and breweries across the country, including their own, with many citing the bar as one of the driving forces and influences behind the craft beer revolution in the UK. The North family has now extended, to multiple sites across Leeds and one in Harrogate.

North Taproom: Snow Hill will be our first site opening in Birmingham and we’re so excited to establish ourselves in a new city and introduce new people to our award-winning beer and amazing bao buns!

Situated opposite Snow Hill station, the taproom will experience heavy footfall and need amazing management and kitchen teams to keep on top of service and provide customers with the best experience possible.

As Kitchen Manager you’ll be responsible for the food offering on site, managing a team of assistants and working alongside the General Manager to ensure that North Taproom: Snow Hill is the place to be!

We need someone to lead our kitchen, fulfilling both in-house and takeaway orders, ensuring that both they and their team thrive in a fast-paced environment while staying red-hot on accuracy and keeping calm under pressure.


  • Working alongside the General and Assistant Manager to ensure a smooth service
  • Recruiting, training and managing kitchen staff to ensure a happy and successful workplace
  • Leading regular team meetings and attending management meetings at HQ.
  • Ensure health and safety as well as hygiene are kept to a high standard and in accordance with local authority FSA guidelines
  • Managing and ordering stock
  • Helping to run on site events- providing food for corporate events and internal staff events
  • Creating new and exciting food offerings
  • Using social media in creative and intuitive ways to develop interest and increase business
  • Completing necessary management administrative tasks- compliance, HR, staff development and feedback

  • Previous kitchen management skills and experience
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Level 3 Food Safety certified
  • Highly organised and effective time management
  • Happy, sociable with a natural tendency towards being hospitable/attentive
  • Strong social media skills- excited to learn new techniques
  • A desire to learn and share knowledge
  • An understanding of GP, management accounts/P&Ls, stock, etc
  • Computer literate- the standard stuff



  • Craft beer knowledge
  • Hold clean UK driving license
  • Previous experience with a similar style of food
  • Strong social media skills- excited to learn new techniques
